Q: What is the difference between paraffin and soy candles?
A: Paraffin is made from petroleum. Paraffin Candles are used around the world and it’s due to the ease of working with. Paraffin is easy to dye, all fragrance oils work with it, and most all instructions that you find for burning candles are intended for the paraffin candles. Soy Candles are made from hydrogenated soybean oil that is made in the United States. Soy candles do not hold the fragrance oils as well as the paraffin does, but it is easier on the environment and easier to clean up if spilled.
Q: Why do I need to trim the wick on my candles?
A: Always trim the wick to ¼ inch before lighting. This will ensure that your candle gets the oxygen it needs to burn correctly. If the wick is too long your candle will smoke. If you notice that your candle is smoking, put it out and let the wax cool before trimming the wick again.
Q: How do I keep my pillar candles from dripping?
A: When you have noticed that the melted wax has reached the edge of the candle, put the candle out & allow the wax to cool. Once the wax has hardened again, you can relight the candle.
Q: Why does my candle burn unevenly?
A: You need to move the candle out of the draft. If there is a draft around your candle it will cause the candle to burn uneven or drip.
Q: Should I always buy the more expensive candles to be safe?
A: No. Remember, just because a candle costs more doesn't mean it is better! Go with what you like, and most importantly, enjoy the beauty and brilliance of candle light in a safe and responsible manner.
